All Things Psilocybin Mushrooms 1: Research & Dosing is a foundational seminar in the NMHA facilitator training program, designed to equip students with the scientific literacy, clinical knowledge, and practical skills necessary for safe and effective psilocybin facilitation. Led by Daniel McQueen, MA and Brendan Caldwell, MA, LPCC of the Medicinal Mindfulness Academy, this course introduces participants to evidence-based mushroom dosing protocols, the pharmacology of psilocybin, and current research on its therapeutic applications, including chronic pain. Students will gain hands-on experience using dosing tools developed at the Center for Medicinal Mindfulness, explore ethical and safety considerations, and build confidence in communicating complex scientific material to clients. This seminar combines live instruction, asynchronous webinars, and critical readings to fulfill key NMHA
training requirements.
Learning Objectives
- Students will learn common psilocybin mushroom dosing protocols and exhibit skill and confidence in using the MM weight-based dosing calculator and Center for Medicinal Mindfulness dosing protocols.
- Students will learn about the current state of psilocybin research and be able to appropriately and clearly communicate evidenced based research to clients.
- Students will develop competencies in the use of evidence-based specialized applications in psilocybin-assisted therapies including advanced applications in precision dosing, the treatment of clinical concerns, end of life care and the treatment of chronic pain.
- Students will learn about the effects, contraindications and drug interactions of psilocybin mushrooms.
